When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.

Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. As players dive deeper and deeper into the mystery, they’ll face overwhelming odds, plot twists, and cliffhangers. It’s only by mastering the Fight With Light combat mechanic that they can stay one step ahead of the darkness that spreads across Bright Falls.

With the body of an action game and the mind of a psychological thriller, Alan Wake’s intense atmosphere, deep and multilayered story, and exceptionally tense combat sequences provide players with an entertaining and original gaming experience.

Enhanced for the PC

  • Includes Alan Wake Special Episodes “The Signal” and “The Writer”
  • Experience Alan Wake’s Pacific Northwest in higher resolutions and higher fidelity than the Xbox360 version.

  • Lots of customizable graphics settings and support for 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratios!

Summary of my Review Approach (To give you a glimpse of how I played the game that may or may not affects my experience)
I played it on Normal difficulty. I'd split my gameplay into 2 period. The 1st to the 3rd chapter are played a few months before the rest are finished. I love all game's genre but I am more of a survival horror fans and Resident Evil is my favourite game.

The following are some noticeable tech pros and cons
Pros
+ Graphic is amazing. It is very atmospheric and the graphic fits the game.
+ Game mechanics are very creative.
+ AI is very interactable with. They do react to the light.
+ The bugs and glitches aren't easily spotted as it doesn't affect the overall gameplay experience.
+ Well ported from Xbox 360

Cons
- I push the volume to max but the sound produced are imbalance. It could be my laptop's problem but it happens to this game only.

The following are just some in-game elements I like/dislike based purely on my opinion
Likes
* Combat mechanics are very interesting. I like the sound of bullet impact. It really feels like hitting the enemies hard.
* Environment. The levels are very creatively designed especially the last few chapters. The whole game is very atmospheric.
* Characters. Charming, Humorous, Evil and such. It is very interesting to watch as the characters developed.
* The light and darkness concept. It strongly inspires me with it's metaphor. Light in the game always give you a sense of secure and relief and darkness gives you a sense of death and fear.
* Special Features Chapters. Ironically, best part in the game for me.

Dislikes
# Story. It has an interesting concept but it is dully presented. The structure is quite boring to me.
# Item management. You can't keep your items for the following section/chapter of the game. Whenever a chapter/section starts, you start with bare hands, torchlight or a gun.
# Manuscript. It is an optional collectibles throughout the game. Some are fun to read, some are good to sleep.
# Soundtrack. Not as atmospheric, romantic and engaging when it comes to the specific scenes.

At first, I hated this game because it wasn't what I expect it to be like. It changes my view as I progress after that.
