Saloon Simulator Review

The totally new Saloon Simulator was released on 15 July 2025, and I think it's a fresh concept, because I’ve never played a Western simulator before, so here we are, why not give it a try? I didn't read much about the game before I started it so I only expected some kind of saloon renovation and serving alcohol, but I was wrong because the game has way more than I imagined, not only can you personalize your saloon and serve drinks, but you can also cook, clean, play mini games and dive into a western story!

Before we get into more details I want to mention that the game will be released in early access and I could already see that it has some performance issues because I was lagging from time to time even though I didn’t play on the highest settings, but it wasn’t anything that bothered me too much since it’s supposed to be a cozy simulator and in its current state it’s fine for me and I believe it’s something that will improve over time.

So here is the story; after getting thrown out of the train and waking up somewhere in the middle of nowhere you find a letter that welcomes you to Blueberry and tells you that this town is now your new home and even though it's falling apart you're supposed to bring it back to life. Your mission is not just to renovate and run the place but also to earn six Letters of Recommendation from the locals to show you're a worthy part of the community otherwise there will be consequences waiting for you... but that’s not all, because the story takes an unexpected turn and suddenly you’re cleaning up blood and corpses which I really didn’t see coming at first though I guess it makes sense since it’s a western game, silly me.

The first things you have to do after entering your new saloon Blueberry is clean up all the trash, dust and start placing tables and chairs where they belong. The tutorial is actually made really well so you won’t feel lost or stuck because everything you need slowly unlocks as you play and the tools are easy to find since they’re accessible through the tab menu, but if you want to personalize your saloon you’ll need to wait a bit longer because even though you can get some new furniture pretty early the better stuff comes later after you progress through the story and earn money. Speaking of money, it’s not that hard to get since once you open your saloon a lot of clients start coming in and you have to serve drinks, cook food, break up fights and sometimes send the beaten person to the doctor which can get really busy especially since you’re also moving the story forward and meeting new NPCs who keep talking to you and need to be served too and that part is the most stressful because suddenly you have ten people asking for things at the same time and even if there’s a time limit it’s not super strict, but I still don’t like when clients leave so it was bothering me a bit.

Next to your saloon there’s also a small shop where you can restock alcohol and ingredients you need for cooking but it also takes time and honestly I think it would be so much easier if you could hire employees, in the current version you can’t yet, though the devs mentioned in some notes that they plan to add more story content and the option to hire staff in future updates which is great so if that kind of thing bothers you before buying the game you can always wait for the next update and I don’t think it’s going to take long or at least i hope it won't.

I’m not gonna lie, the cleaning part feels a bit stiff and not super satisfying but when it comes to cooking and serving drinks it’s actually fun and works well, simple, but still fun, and personalization is also pretty simple and by the end you can turn your saloon into something that looks really nice, and to be honest your new home is way bigger than I expected because it’s not just the saloon but also a kitchen with lots of rooms and a second floor so there’s actually a lot to do once you get deeper into the game.

I can't tell it's a bad game for sure, it is quite simple, but if you are a western type and love simulators you should give it a try and even if you are not a western fan, you still might find it interesting, especially if you are bored of typical renovation simulators, for sure it's something new and fresh, of course it has some flaws, but I’d say it was worth trying.
