JETRUNNER Review

It's time for parkour! Not like I'm a huge fan or anything, but I do enjoy some parkour games, and I totally fell in love with Mirror's Edge Catalyst, that one is definitely my favourite parkour game. I also played a few games that are only about parkour, with obstacle courses and time challenges, so yeah, here we are now. JETRUNNER is a new parkour game released on September 4th, 2025, developed by Riddlebit Software and published by Curveball Games.

The interesting part is... we actually have a story here too! Of course it's not super deep or anything, but it's definitely more than I expected from a game that's mainly focused on parkour. You play as Nina White, a jetrunner from New York, and there’s a lot of voice acting while you’re playing. Which I won’t lie, I had trouble focusing on. I couldn’t run and listen at the same time… yeah okay, I’m weak, and what?! I have problems with stuff like that!

Anyway… as Nina, you talk to your team on the radio and react to a commentator who keeps saying things while you run. To be honest, even if I had trouble paying attention, it was still great to hear him, the commentator is definitely good and pleasant to listen to. It’s not really serious, mostly light and a bit of fun. Also, each chapter ends with a short cutscene! So, in a simple way, you are following Nina’s journey… from training? to becoming one of the top competitors as a jetrunner!

Let’s talk about gameplay. So yeah, it’s parkour. That’s it. End of talking. What else do you want? Ughh… fine…
You run, you jump, you slide, you dash, you punch stuff sometimes and that’s mostly what you do in this game! Actually, it’s not that easy. The more levels you unlock, the more special mechanics you get, like crashing through walls or doing big jumps. The game moves fast, like really fast, and even though the levels are short, they’re intense at the same time. That’s because there’s more to do than just finishing the level.

You have got a leaderboard, so yeah, you can try to beat your friends! But honestly, that’s the least important thing for me and what matters more is that you get rated with stars, up to 3 stars per level and getting them is not easy. You need to find all possible shortcuts, be fast and clean, and hit all the targets.

Targets? Did I mention that? Okay, so you get a weapon, and while you’re running, you also need to shoot targets. Isn’t that kind of insane? It makes everything even harder! And your targets try to kill you too, which makes it even worse! And there’s also a special coin. Each level has one, and if you want to do 100%, you need to find it. Sometimes it’s hidden in really hard to reach places, like way up high, and you have to figure out how to get there. I would suggest looking for the coin first, and then trying to get 3 stars that’s what I do at least…

There are 6 chapters, and each chapter has 10 levels, so that’s 60 levels total and 60 coins to collect. Even if the levels are short, that’s still a lot, right? I’m gonna say chapter 1 was pretty easy, I didn’t have many problems, maybe just a bit, but chapter 2? That’s when things started to get more intense, especially if you’re trying to get 3 stars. Finding coins also got harder, and reaching them was a whole other challenge and since you unlock new mechanics as you go, it definitely gets tougher, the game doesn’t make it easy for you, that’s for sure.

So yeah, I do recommend JETRUNNER especially if you’re into parkour games, but the game won’t make it easy for you, that’s for sure. And visually? The game looks amazing. All the maps are beautiful, and the art style is great. You’re gonna spend a lot of hours on this one, especially if you plan to collect all the coins and stars! Now go run and good luck!
