Ahoy, Pirates!
Be ye dreamin’ of runnin’ yer own shop, stackin’ booty, and barterin’ with fellow scallywags for the finest loot on the seas? A new treasure has washed ashore this day Pirate Cove Simulator released on date of 21 July 2025.
Excited?! Well... I am not, and I will tell you why.
At the beginning of a game, you wake up in a some kind of a small "cave" or maybe it's more like a half broken castle, around you there is many stuff, from golden chests and maps to skeletons, and honestly, it does look pretty good at first. You will also find here a letter that tells you your soul is trapped in the afterlife, cursed and bound to this strange world. The only way to break the curse is to offer one million gold coins to the Prince of Death. Gold is rare, and the islands are full of other cursed souls just as desperate as you. Your only hope is to open a shop, trade with the damned, and earn enough money to free yourself. If you fail, your soul will stay trapped forever. If you succeed, your old life will be yours again, so don’t waste time because the Prince of Death is waiting. It does sound cool actually! But that's basically all of the story, now you just have to gather one million gold coins.
And here the problems start... but before I say anything more, you need to know I’m not really into pirates. I don’t mind trying new things sometimes, like, I wasn’t into the western style either, but Saloon Simulator turned out to be a good game, and I don’t regret trying it. With Pirate Cove Simulator, I really tried to like it, but it was just so boring for me. Why? Because the gameplay felt really boring and repetitive, at least for me, so I’ll try to get into more details first.
The tutorial is well made, but that’s just the basic thing you expect from any simulator game, right? Honestly, after you leave the starting location, the island, in my opinion, doesn’t look that good anymore, sometimes it's weird when you are moving, and the movement is pretty fast, but it’s not really bad either. It’s simple, so it’s not a big deal after you get used. Your first task is to name your shop, and you can change it whenever you want. After that, you buy a wooden shelf and place the items you want to sell, since you're a pirate, you sell a variety of things like weapons, locks, torches, shovels, alcohol, and even fish. You need to set the price, and the game tells you whether it's "acceptable" or not, so I was basically setting the price as high as I could and everything was always sold without any issue. You also get special missions with a time limit, where you have to bring things like alcohol, eight swords, and so on and stack them in one place. A skeleton pirate then shows up, takes the goods, and you get rewarded well.
To fish, you just tapping the button that shows on the screen and there is also a time limit. It works fine, no issues, just simple. Honestly? Simply boring and even more boring when you get a mission to catch the same fish 15 times, which also takes a while to finish. There’s also a map that contains six small islands and places to fish. To unlock them, you need to spend your gold. And what you find on the islands? Plants, variety of different plants and treasure chests, that's mostly it, for me all the islands were looking the same! i didn't feel interested at all! But there’s also a question... what do you do with your plants? Of course, alcohol, different kinds of alcohol. You also need to name them and discover new ones and this part also seemed boring to me.
Don’t get me wrong, maybe it’s just me. It’s not really my kind of game or style and I just felt really bored, even though I really tried to like it, but I simply couldn’t. That doesn’t mean the game is bad, it’s simple, and probably some people will enjoy it. But for me? I didn't like it at all and I can’t really recommend it.
