Simulators are quite popular right now, and if you're a fan, you’ve probably already played Powerwash Simulator or Crime Scene Cleaner. Personally, I love games that let me chill, I always play them when i feel like listening to some music, enjoy something more brainless or just do not feel like playing anything intense. If you are the same kind of person and still haven't tried any simulator, maybe it is time to change that?
Today it is time for Painter Simulator!
It is kind of a similar concept to cleaning games, right? But instead of cleaning, you paint, I think it sounds awesome, at least to me, so when I saw the game with a -90% off I bought it instantly. After all, what is the worst that could happen? Well... about that... let’s get into it more...
This is not typical painting game, here you have to color numbers, but not really in the way you might expect from something called a painter simulator. You basically have a big laser weapon, need to select a number and choose a paint, then hold the left mouse button and move around the number you picked, that's all, it instantly fills in without much effort, but it is really that simple? Actually no, but let me tell you about my first level, I had to paint one of a walls of a cute small house, not really much, but even if it was my first level i missed something and could not figure out what. I only knew which number/paint I had to use, so I kept spraying around the area until I finally noticed a small white corner, like literally, small, really really small, and that's it, I finished the level by doing 100%, and since I like to farm achievements in games like that, I thought okay, cool, not that bad, so I decided to start the next level and I actually liked it, maybe it was not what I expected but yes, I did like it. I listened to some music and just chilled, felt relaxed.
There was not really any proper tutorial, and since I had played Powerwash Simulator at some point, I was like "wait, there is no way this game does not have some kind of hint system or anything, right?" I can't find all the tiny squares every time, it is kind of hard" and you know what? I checked the controls in the settings and there actually was a hint button, and it worked really well, everything became so much better, and I could finally play my game without worrying about checking every single corner ten times! I got into the game for a bit, some levels had kind of short stories and even races, which is cool. To unlock the next levels you pay with triangles, and you earn them simply by coloring squares in each level, so that was not really something to worry about and I also found out there is a skill tree, so I slowly started putting my "triangle" points there. There is a variety of different weapons like spray, bombs, hose, air brush and rocket launcher, but I kept playing with the basic one little bit longer. Unfortunately, the game had different plans for me, the amount of bugs and issues it has is quite insane, progress percentage bugged, random triangles no longer covered by paint, and even cases where you finished painting one hundred percent of a specific number and color but there is still more left to paint somehow.
I'm not gonna lie, even though the game had so many bugs it did not bother me that much and I still liked it. Until I started to progress more and more..... The more I progressed, the more it started to feel like a chore, the maps became insane, full of small squares and hard-to-reach corners, and I did not feel relaxed anymore, I just wanted it to end. At that moment I spent all my triangles to upgrade new weapons and started to use them, mostly bombs and rocket launcher, and everything became really easy and fast, I went into speedrun mode just to farm the rest of the achievements.
Additionally, even though the graphics were simple, the optimization was not the best, sometimes I did lag, especially when I was using the spray, and it is not like the game has very high requirements, so I had to lower my settings, and even after doing that it was still lagging.
Honestly, I can't really say I recommend the game, especially for the full price, but with a -90% off it might actually be worth it. After all, I had some fun and it was quite relaxing for a bit, even though Painter Simulator is not that expensive without a sale, I would say if you really want to try the game, just add it to your wishlist and wait for a discount, you might end up like the game!
