The night air is harsh: battering winds cuts you through to the bone as an unforgiving snowfall blusters. Your eyes sting, eyelashes heavy with frozen ice. “It’s not much farther now…” Just as quickly as a plume rises from your breath, the wind whips it away.You push on, trudging through the snow, to a cabin blanketed in darkness. Your numb fingers brace against the wooden entrance, yet the gentle approach yields nothing. Mustering what little strength you have left, you shoulder the stiff door- and after a moment of resistance you topple inside, a plume of dust marking your arrival.It’s dark.

Hundreds of weary feet crunch under sheets of ice. A trail of billowing condensation rises through the arctic air, wafting above the line of chilled bodies trudging forward through the snow. Hunger and cold nips at heels of the Frostbreakers, slowing the pace; the warmth of the Furnace was long since gone. The sooner they breakthrough the ice, the sooner they can go home, back to the warmth and safety of that oil-fueled glow. The impact of the escape pod was unexpectedly violent. Sparks danced through the air, arching and flitting across every surface; crimson light thrummed overhead and basking the small enclosure in an eerie glow.
