Captain Kaon Review

Hello again Opium Pulses. I'm here to review the game "Captain Kaon". I had a lot of fun with this one. I had actually downloaded a pre-alpha of this game from itch.io before it got it's Steam release. There is quite a lot to go about describing exactly what this game is in it's entirety, which i WILL cover throughout this review but for now, the Story, and features as per the Steam store page. About This Game:Captain Kaon is a retro twin-stick gravity shooter inspired by 1980s classics such as Thrust and Gravitar. Captain Kaon brings the vector graphics of

What interesting games are coming out 08/2017

Suprisingly rich month of August can brag about the greatest number of original games in 2017. We hope some of them will get the attention they deserve. The heat wave is coming, save yourself! But apart from the heat wave there's also a big wave of games arriving, it's a bit unusual for this time of the year. Numerous indie titles such as Tacoma, Observer, Absolver, The Escapists 2 and Nidhogg 2 will get their five minutes of fame in the market before autumn falls. Some games will finally leave Early Access like The Long Dark, Ark: Survival Evolved and Hello Neighbor. In

Aerea Review

Hello Opium users that no longer have a Pulse... or...uhh... what? I'm here to review Aerea. The night before this game was given to me, I was desperately trying to work out a trade with someone to get a copy of this game, and they wouldn't accept anything I offered. Bummer... But then the next day, I wound up talking to SlipSlot for some reason, and the subject of reviewing games came up. Aerea was then given to me to review. WOOT! or was it WOOT-worthy? Turned out it was not, unfortunately... Not for me, anyway. I was left very disappointed

Fortnite Review

Here we go... Fortnite, a game that was so hyped up and yet I never heard about it until I got it from a friend. I don't really know how to describe this game - It’s a cross section of all things people are into these days with some old school Epic Games DNA tying it all together. It’s part Minecraft, in that you bust up trees and rocks with a pickaxe to build big fortresses out of big snappy pieces, and part tower defense in that zombies creatures make a beeline towards said base with the singular goal of destroying

GOKEN Review

GOKEN follows the story of Edge - The master of the 5 blades. Edge has spent the last 5,000 years sealed away at the top of Swords Peak by the god O-Zone after an unsuccessful challenge on his life. Woken up one day by a small child, Edge must travel the world in search of his lost blades. Only then can he finally have his revenge on the gods!GOKEN is an Action-JRPG, not dissimilar to classic JRPG's such as The Secret of Mana, A Link to the Past and Alundra. The first hour or so of GOKEN is a real slog,

Retro Dose #21 - Clock Tower

In todays Retro Dose we talk about the good old Clock Tower - a game that has popularized survival horrors based on hiding instead of shooting.Since I'm in a horror mood last couple of days I remembered one game that made me hide under a blanket at night, so I'd like to point out a retro gem. I present to you -  Clock Tower , for its time a unique point-and-click survival horror for SNES , and a couple of years later for PSX . Yes, point-and-click, you have read well. Use the controller to move the cursor and scroll through

Blackwood Crossing Review

Blackwood Crossing left a bad first impression on me. You start by waking up mid-train ride to the voice of the main character, Finn. Being honest, I really disliked Finn the first time I met him. His voice was muffled behind closed doors and it sounded like he was peaking the microphone when he started shouting. This was short lived however, as I warmed up to Finn very quickly. The atmosphere is very bright and sets off a nice tone from the get go, as you proceed to walk through an extremely detailed and vibrant environment, Finn would like you to

Retro Dose #20 - Parasite Eve

In this Retro Dose we remember one Christmas Eve and parasites whom we met in the PSX classic Parasite Eve.Parasite Eve was released in 1998., developed by Squaresoft for PSX, headed by none other than Uncle Hironobu Sakaguchi known for Final Fantasy . This leads to the conclusion that this is a RPG in some sort but in the survival horror flair. It does not sound to you like a warm, festive story? It might not be one of those traditional ones, but Parasite Eve took place at Christmas in the snowy streets of New York. The whole thing started when a young cop

Half-Life 3 wouldn't conclude the story of the series

Screenwriter who worked on the story for never released third episode of Half Life 2 said that this game would also ended on a cliffhanger. One of the reasons why everyone awaits the return of the Half-Life series and the arrival of Half Life 3 is because the story of Gordon Freeman and his companion Alyx Vance was abruptly halted after three chapters. In addition to expectations that the next Half-Life will be the best game ever, fans expect the continuation of the story that has a lot of open questions. However, ten years later, it is clear that Half-Life 3 is not

Retro Dose #19 - The Sims

Today we are remembering the second best-selling PC game of all time that marked the world of simulation and infatuated our mothers, sisters, girlfriends, or even ourselves because of the surreal level of entertainment that it provided. When you think about it, the goal of almost every game is to show a segment of the living world, real or imaginary, and you try to make it credible, virtually sustainable and somewhat more realistic. Many games tried to convey the experience of life in the real world, but none of the series came close to the detailed level as The Sims series, whose
